Does the author settle the argument?

The author seems arrogant, dismissive, or unwilling to listen. Does that show that EE fails?

The claim at issue

What EE says

EE's premises and inferences can be assessed without accepting its author's account of himself. Conduct may affect trust in a source, but its relevance to a particular argument must be shown.

EE's reply

Where the objection fails

Identify the claim at issue and the failed step. A complaint about tone or a prediction that the author will not listen does not supply that step. A concrete allegation about a missing check, false citation, or uncorrected error deserves its own examination.

EE's answer

What follows

A judgment about the author's tone, intelligence, or willingness to listen identifies no failed premise or inference. A specific error can be assessed on its merits; a concrete allegation about the research process belongs in the due-diligence route.
